Sasha’s Food for Thought
Hey Everyone! My name is Sasha. I am a 13-year-young husky and the resident picky eater and princess of this corner of the universe.
12 years ago, I found my forever home with my family and I took over as the head of the household. In this process, I have had to make hard decisions about what I and my siblings can eat. You see, when I first came home, my stomach was very sensitive. My mom tried to get me grain-free and sensitive stomach options for food, along with vitamins and treats that helped me feel better. That did not work for me long term though. I was very protective of my food and knew it was different from my siblings. I hadn’t learned to share yet. So I demanded that we find an alternative that would work for all four of us the same.
During my mom’s mission to keep me happy and healthy, I made her cycle through so many different foods. It sure took a while but we have finally landed on some Sasha-approved foods that have the right combination of flavor and quality. Since I know there are other princesses out there, I told my mom she needs to share our top 3 with everyone! So, here is our short list of loved foods and why. Buon appetito!
Wellness Complete Health Dry Food with Whitefish and Sweet Potato
This is our number 1 food choice. Not only do me and my siblings wipe our bowls clean during mealtime, but it is also great for our health!
It has all the Omega fatty acids that I need to keep my husky fur lush, and keep my brother Tyson’s, sensitive skin glowing and irritant-free!
The very first ingredient is whitefish and it uses barley as the main source of grain with added B12 supplements. This has been optimal for my energy every day and is keeping me spunky at 13. This is very important to me as I have a large household to oversee.

Victor Hi-Pro Plus Dry Dog Food
Victor dog food was a big hit with one of our cousins, so my mom decided that it might be for us! This dog food is jam-packed with protein and vitamins by using multiple sources of protein. There is no doubt it is a healthy choice for dogs who need a lot of protein and energy. It also uses gluten-free grains, which is great for my sensitive tummy!
This dog food was a great fit for us because we go hiking and camping regularly. My mom finds that it helps keep us full and energetic even during our longest 30+ mile hikes.
My brothers also loved this food, but My sister and I were not big fans and would often leave food in our bowls after mealtime. My mom does not let us graze because she says a consistent schedule is better for our health. So while we don’t get Victor Hi-Pro anymore (sorry boys) we still highly recommend it for our fluffy friends!

Purina One Lamb and Rice Formula
I had to fight my mom on this one because my siblings and I love this food! We eat it so fast my mom forgets if she fed us. This is a plus for me, but not for mom.
My mom likes to get this food for us when we are traveling. While it doesn’t quite match up to our Victor and Wellness favorites in terms of nutrition, it is perfect for us in high-stress situations when we first arrive at a campsite or if mom has to leave us home alone because we always eat it eagerly so mom can rest assured we are well fed wherever we are or she is!
Overall, Purina One Lamb and Rice is relatively healthy, but has a bit more fat and a bit less protein than the first two foods on our list. This is why it is our number 3 top choice. That being said, likability is important and we highly recommend this for our picky or nervous friends! Find out more about it here:
